Regarding overleveling, it's very easy to get overleveled near the end of PT1, primarily because you'll be facing numerous Eridian Guardians that give off a ton of xp. Personally, I like to hold off on the DLCs until PT2.5 (mostly for story reasons), in which I start with Knoxx, then Ned, and then alternate between Claptrap and Armory runs until level 69 when I replace Claptrap with Moxxi.
Just make sure to do Moxxi and Claptrap in both playthroughs eventually since you get a skill point for completing those.
